Opera in three acts, in Italian, with Hungarian, English and Italian subtitles
Performance duration: 3 hours, with 1 intermission.
The Chinese princess Turandot swears that she will not marry any man - except the one who can solve her three-question riddle. Giacomo Puccini's last, unfinished opera deals with fairy-tale and social-philosophical questions at the same time. The new production of the OPERA is directed by the celebrated choreographer Dóra Barta - a woman who interprets the most mysterious female title role in world opera. Her production approaches the work through the exciting stage language of movement and physical theater, as well as from the perspective of the Commedia dell'arte, which Carlo Gozzi also took inspiration from for his play on which the opera is based. Through the abstraction of the dance and movement language, the philosophical content of the work is brought into focus, while at the same time the aspect of power remains important, because Turandot's father, the emperor, is not only looking for a husband for her daughter, but also the future ruler of China...
