Tannhäuser - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Tannhäuser
Romantic opera in three acts
Content:
It is about nothing less than love.
The Wartburg Singers' Society asks about this, and Tannhäuser also seeks it: With the goddess of love Venus he finds almost endless pleasure, with the "pure" Elisabeth he hopes to achieve bliss. In his lurching between satisfaction and renunciation, between guilt and protest, in his being torn between fulfillment and exaltation, he corresponds entirely to the grammar of the romantic age - and still speaks directly to us today.
