Salzburg Sightseeing Tours
Explore the original Sound of Music film locations in Salzburg.
Start your tour at the Mirabell Gardens, continue to Leopoldskron Palace, Hellbrunn Palace and Nonnberg Abbey. From there it goes on to the Salzburg Lake District to St. Gilgen and then to Mondsee.
The life of the von Trapp family is inextricably linked to the city of Salzburg. Every year around 300,000 people visit the locations from the film Sound of Music. The film was made in 1964 after the enormous success of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical in 1959. The musical and film are based on the book "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers" by Maria Trapp. The eventful life of the novice Maria von Trapp and her singing family became a worldwide success when it was filmed in 1965 and starred Julie Andrews. The songs from the film The Sound of Music are known all over the world.
The guided Sound of Music Tour from Panorama Tours takes you to the original film locations in and around Salzburg and shows you the places where the Sound of Music was filmed.
Follow in the footsteps of the Trapp family with our tour. Immerse yourself in the scenes in and around Salzburg and experience the story personally. Feel like Julie Andrews and Christoph Plummer on set for the original film "The Sound of Music".
The Sound of Music Tour ® is only available in English!

Route:
1) Mirabell Gardens
Surely you can remember the scenes from the Mirabell Garden where the song "Do-Re-Mi" was filmed. You are welcome to explore and enjoy this film location yourself before or after the Sound of Music Tour starts, be it at the Pegasus Fountain or the Do-Re-Mi Steps.
2) Leopoldskron Palace
We will make a stop at Leopoldskron Castle so you can take some photos of the well-known boat scene from the film. Here you can have a look at the castle and its garden from the other side of the lake.
3) Hellbrunn Garden, Gazebo
A visit to the Hellbrunn Garden is not to be missed, where the gazebo (garden arbor) is located, which has been specially remodeled for Sound of Music fans. The scenes from the song "16 going on 17" and the kissing scenes of Maria and Baron von Trapp were filmed there.
4) Nonnberg Abbey
The path continues, on which you can take a look at Nonnberg Abbey from the bus. This is the actual church where the "real" Maria and Baron von Trapp were married. Unfortunately, the monastery does not allow a look behind the walls, but it is still possible to attend a service after our tour.
5) Salzburg Lake District - St Gilgen
After visiting the film locations in the city of Salzburg, the Sound of Music Tour takes you to the Salzburg lake districts. The Fuschlsee and Wolfgangsee served as a film location for the picnic and other panorama shots. We make a photo stop above the roofs of St. Gilgen, from where you have a magnificent view.
6) Mondsee - Wedding Church
In Mondsee you will have the opportunity to visit the famous Wedding Church, where Maria and the Baron were married in the film Sound of Music. Afterwards you have the opportunity to explore the town of Mondsee yourself.
