The Triumph of Time and Truth

Oratorio in three parts
Libretto by Thomas Morell

Some works stay with their creators until the end of their lives. One such case is The Triumph of Time and Truth, the Italian-language original version of which was written by George Frideric Handel for Rome in 1707. Exactly 50 years later, a few years before his death, he returned to the material. In 1757, the composer had received a new commission for London, but since he was almost blind by then, he resorted to an existing composition to relieve the workload and edited it. After having already performed the Italian original version Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at the MusikTheater an der Wien in the 2023/24 season, Rubén Dubrovsky and his Bach Consort Wien are returning with the English-language new version and continuing to explore the Handel universe.
