Content: Salome grows up in a frightening, horrifying, and deeply disturbing environment. An escape from this world seems to be offered by the ascetic prophet Jochanaan, who preaches repentance. However, he rejects her longing. Filled with immature rage, she demands his head. When Salome kisses the bloody mouth of the prophet, her stepfather Herodes orders her to be killed.
