Rigoletto - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Rigoletto

Melodramma in three acts
Text Francesco Maria Piave

Content:
Rigoletto, the court jester of the Duke of Mantua, mocks the fathers and husbands of the women his master seduces and abuses.
The Count of Monterone therefore curses him. Rigoletto's concern is for his daughter Gilda, whom he keeps hidden from the world. What he does not know is that the Duke has been meeting her secretly and anonymously for months, and she has fallen in love with him. When he succeeds in seducing her, Rigoletto sets the assassin Sparafucile on him. Gilda sacrifices herself for love and dies in the Duke's place, and the curse is fulfilled.
