Le nozze di Figaro - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Le nozze di Figaro

Le nozze di Figaro is one of the most popular operas in the world and has always been an integral part of the Estates Theater's Mozart repertoire. The unique venue is linked fatefully to the musical genius, and not only through Don Giovanni, which premiered there in 1787. Almost a year earlier, just a few months after its premiere in Vienna, the Estates Theater staged Le nozze di Figaro, which was enthusiastically received by Prague music lovers.
W.A. Mozart and his librettist, Italian poet Lorenzo da Ponte, based the opera on La Folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro by French playwright Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, a scandalous play whose indictment of social inequality was viewed by many as scathing became. These include Charles Danton and Napoleon Bonaparte, who anticipated the French Revolution. We don't yet know whether all people are really equal before God, but at least since Mozart came up with his comic opera, we've known that Cupid doesn't discriminate against anyone. His arrows fly wherever they want, connecting what seems incompatible and separating what seems inseparable. Mozart's daring Count Almaviva, his neglected wife, her pretty maid Suzanne and the clever if naive valet Figaro can tell a song about it...

The new adaptation of Le nozze di Figaro is directed by Czech director Barbora Horáková Joly, who recently created a production of Rigoletto and the double play The Seven Deadly Sins / Expectation for the National Theater. The musical direction will be taken on by the renowned British conductor Julia Jones.

Suitable for viewers aged 12 and over.

The new Le nozze di Figaro is a co-production with the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
