Grimaud – Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra – Honeck - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Grimaud – Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra – Honeck
For more than 120 years, the traditional Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, which has won two »Grammys«, has been at the cultural center of its city and region and has not only delighted audiences in its home country, but also on numerous tours abroad. With Manfred Honeck as chief conductor, the orchestra is currently celebrating its fourteenth season together - a top-class and award-winning musical liaison, which can now be experienced in the Kulturpalast. The dance-inspired »Five Pieces for String Quartet« by the Czech composer Erwin Schulhoff will be heard at the beginning. With Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto, a real audience favorite follows in the concert hall, whose cheerful and airy character will come into its own in the interpretation of the great pianist Hélène Grimaud. In the finale with Peter Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, the orchestra and conductor immerse themselves in romantic tonal worlds full of melancholic beauty.
