A little night music concert in the Capuchin Church

Hear masterpieces of classical music in a concert in the heart of Vienna, the Capuchin Church. In addition to Mozart's eponymous Eine kleine Nachtmusik, the program also includes Schubert's Ave Maria, Haydn's Kaiser Quartet and Bach's Air. In the evening, come to a concert in the Capuchin Church and let yourself be enchanted by the music of the Vienna Imperial Quartet.

On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the Capuchin Church and Capuchin Crypt in 1622, the foundation stone for the chamber concerts was laid in 2022 - in an imperial way.

“It’s about doing justice to the history of the imperial family with our music,” says Hartmut Pascher, artistic director of the ensemble. “For centuries, the Habsburgs were always supporters of music and artistic life. Just as there were members of the imperial family who did not care much for music, we must not overlook all those Habsburgs who not only promoted music but also actively pursued it themselves. We find good and very good musicians and even composers in the ranks of the Habsburg family.”

It is important to keep this musical tradition alive. That is why the Vienna Imperial Quartet was formed, where great experience meets young esprit, where masterful interpretation is passed on to the next generation, where the joy of making music together spreads to the audience and where programs are prepared and arranged with great attention to detail.

The musicians of the quartet are made up of experienced chamber musicians who have been and have been members of renowned string quartets and piano trios for many years - many of whom teach at universities and music schools - soloists with great success in international competitions, as well as graduates, some of whom have studied with the experienced ensemble members. The quartet can be expanded to include wind instruments and vocal soloists, which significantly enriches the repertoire.
